I now have TRICARE for Life, do I need to keep my other supplemental insurance?

Now that I have TRICARE for Life (TFL) as a supplement to Medicare, is it necessary for me to keep the supplemental insurance I had prior to enrolling in TFL?

It may not be necessary for you to retain the supplemental insurance you had prior to becoming eligible for TRICARE for Life (TFL) benefits. When you use a Medicare provider, TFL will pay all Medicare co-payments and deductibles and cover most of the costs of certain care not covered by Medicare. You can obtain counseling and assistance in making insurance and health plan decisions by contacting your local State Health Insurance Assistance Programs (SHIPs) office. The contact telephone number for your local SHIP office can be found in the Helpful Contacts section of Medicare's Web site. Additional information about TRICARE for Life is available by visiting the TRICARE for Life website or by calling toll free 1-888-363-5433 (Spanish speaking individuals should call 1-866-363-5433).
