How should consumers use quality measures?

Consumers should use quality measures in conjunction with other evaluative methods when making a nursing home care decision, such as visiting the facility, talking with friends and family and consulting physicians and other health care providers. Other assessments of quality can include interviewing the nursing staff at the facility as well as talking with current residents of the facility. Current nursing home residents can also benefit from quality measures as they can be used to assess and prompt change in current conditions.
