What is the Notice of Medicare Privacy Practices?

Starting April 14, 2003, the Original Medicare Plan (Fee-for-Service Medicare) must give you a notice that describes how Medicare uses and gives out your personal health information and tells you your individual rights. A paper copy of the Notice of Medicare Privacy Practices is in your Medicare and You handbook. You may also view a copy of the Notice of Medicare Privacy Practices on www.medicare.gov.
