How will the role of the Carriers and the Fiscal Intermediaries (FIs) change?

The role of the Carriers and FIswill stay the same with one exception:The hearings that Carriers and FIs perform will eventually stop and be replaced by the QIC's reconsideration process. The Part A QICs started conducting reconsiderations on May 1, 2005 for redeterminations issued by Fiscal Intermediaries on or after May 1, 2005. The Part B QICs started conducting reconsiderations on January 1, 2006 for redeterminations issued by carriers on or after January 1, 2006.
