QuestionLong:
It seems like I am getting more and more Advance Beneficiary Notices (ABNs). Don't ABNs mean that less and less is being covered by Medicare?

No. ABNs do not operate to reduce coverage at all. When you choose "Option 1. YES" on an ABN and receive the service or item, a claim is submitted to Medicare. Medicare will decide on coverage and payment of your claim under its usual procedures. Only if and when Medicare does deny the claim, do you become liable for paying personally for the service or item. If Medicare decides to pay the claim, you have lost nothing by signing the ABN.
