The flu is a serious disease. The flu is a virus that spreads from one infected person to others. The "influenza season" in the United States is from November through April each year. Flu can cause:

• Fever
• Sore Throat
• Cough
• Headache
• Chills
• Muscle Aches

People of any age can get the flu. Most people are ill with the flu for only a few days, but some get much sicker and may need to be hospitalized. The flu causes thousands of deaths each year, mostly among the elderly.
