QuestionLong:
My doctor says I need cardiac rehabilitation but the hospital says Medicare will not pay for it because I had valve replacement. Is this true?

Cardiac rehabilitation is covered for only three groups of patients:

  • Patients who begin the program within 12 months of an acute myocardial infarction
  • Patients who are status post coronary artery bypass (CABG) surgery
  • Patients with chronic angina
